Here at Stoke Heath we try to take part in lots of sporting activities. Here are just some of the school teams;-
The school takes part in various sporting events throughout the year. Please see the various match reports listed below;-
Year 4 Quad Kids
Our Year 4 children took part in an Athletics Competition involving 4 events (400m race, 50m Sprint, Javelin & Long Jump). The children had a great time having a go at each event, showing great enthusiasm. 4A’s Ala Rashid was singled out for praise by organisers for having a near perfect running action.
Year 3 Tri Golf Competition
Our Year 3 children recently took part in a Golf Competition at AT7 Centre. They had to complete 7 different courses, obtaining points for each. After working incredibly hard the children managed a fantastic 537 points, finishing 4th out of 16 schools.
Year 6 Dodgeball Competition
Some children from Year 6 took part in a Dodgeball Competition at Moseley Primary School. The children had a great time playing in the sunshine.
Girls Football League 2
Our Girls Football team were crowned champions of the League with an emphatic 8-0 victory over St Patricks. The girls finished the season unbeaten, scoring 17 goals and conceding only 1 goal. WELL DONE STOKE HEATH LIONESSES!!!
The school has also played friendlies in Football, Netball, Tag Rugby and Rounders against various schools.
Netball Pool G
Stoke Heath finished top of Pool G, winning 5 games, scoring 24 points and conceding 4. They are now through to Finals day at Whitmore Park where the top 8 Netball teams in Coventry compete to be number 1!

STOKE HEATH 11 – 0 Walsgrave

When we played Walsgrave in our 1st league match of the season at Walsgrave C of E Primary School. We played really well. Scoring a whopping 11 goals! I thought we defended well as a team and took lots of shots on goal.

Stoke Heath Girls Team recently played their 1st ever competitive league match against Walsgrave C of E Primary School here at Stoke Heath. I thought we played really well and made some really good passes.

Stoke Heath 6 – 4 Clifford Bridge
We recently played in a Netball cup match away at Clifford Bridge Primary School. It was an excellent match. No one got injured. The player of the match was Sabrina, who was good at receiving the ball, finding space and shooting. In the 1st quarter we managed to score 3 goals and they only got 1 goal. In the 2nd quarter nobody scored. We drew the 3rd quarter by 1-1 and the 4th quarter 2-2. Winning the game 6-4!

Stoke Heath went through on penalties
Last week we played Southfields in the 1st round of Harry Shaw Cup. It was an exciting match with us showing great determination to come back from 2-1 down to make it 2-2 and take the game to penalties and winning!!!
Endball Festival – 5t December 2018
Our year 4’s recently went to Alan Higgs Centre to take part in an Endball Festival. The children had lots of fun learning to play a new sport and then having the chance at competing against other schools.
Sportshall Competition – 14th November 2018
We went to Alan Higgs to take part in a Sportshall Athletics Competition. We had to compete in several Track and Field events against other schools. Our school tried really hard in all of the events, managing to get 96 points and finishing 4th.
Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey Team – 1st November 2018
This week two Coventry Blaze players came into school to do assemblies with KS1 and KS2, they discussed healthy eating and looked at the different food categories with the children. The children enjoyed learning about what professional sports people need to eat. Big thank you to Coventry Blaze for taking time out to visit our school and talk to the children on two different occasions about their sport.
Stoke Heath Football Team – Thursday 19th October 2018
Today we held a really exciting game of football at the school. Local rivals Stoke Primary came to play Stoke Heath in a year 3/4 football friendly. Stoke Primary had a really good start tot he game, going 0-3 up in the first 15 minutes. Stoke Heath then came roaring back in the second half to go 4-3 up! With only a few minutes to go they unfortunately couldn’t hold on to the lead with Stoke Primary equalising. !
Walk A Mile Event – Wednesday 18th October 2018
We have today completed our first walk a mile event. Our gates opened at 8.25 am where lots of parents, children and staff were eager to join in with exciting new activity. The benefits of this start to the school day are proven to improve both health, well being, concentration and readiness for learning. We intend to make this a weekly event!
Biathlon Event at the Excel Centre
Monday 15th October 2018
Six children from Stoke Heath went to the Xcel Centre to participate in a Biathlon competition. The children had to firstly run 400 m and then swim 25 m in the quickest time possible. Their scores were then combined. Stoke heath finished 8th in the competition out of 21 schools which is fantastic!
Also a special well done to Bailey from year 6 who scored the 4th best score overall out of 63 girls. Amazing!
Football Event at the AT7 Centre
Friday 12th October 2018
Today our Year 3 and 4 children visited the AT7 centre for a football competition. We entered two teams into this competition. Our Team 1 Drew two matches and lost one and our Team 2 lost their three matches.
One of our children wrote;- Today I went to the AT7 to play football. I really had fun. I saw my old school and my cousin and I hope to do more!!
Both teams played really well and represented the school extremely positively. Well done to all those that took part, they really enjoyed the event and worked really hard!
Sporting Award 2018
We are delighted to announce that we, Stoke Heath Primary School, have achieved the School Games Bronze Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year.
Our sporting achievements this year include:
Sports Hall Athletics Festival, Magnificent Seven Festival, Netball Tournaments, Football Tournaments, Rowing competition, Rounders competition, Hockey competition, Tri Golf competition, Quad Kids competition.

Report from the 3rd of July
On the 3rd of July netballers from years 5&6 went to the Xcel centre to compete in the East Coventry school’s netball tournament.
The team played fantastically well – gaining 6 points out of a possible twelve.
Well done to everyone that took part and a special thanks to Lily for stepping in at the last minute. We look forward to improving our position in next years event.
Report from the 10th July
On the 10th of July netballers from years 5&6 played in an all day netball tournament hosted by the Coventry Wasps at Bablake.
The team competed against schools from the region and the competition was extremely tough. After 6 intense matches, we were pleased to find out we came 6th out 9 schools playing for the plate. The team were foutunate enough to have their picture taken with Sam May, who is the GK of the Coventry Wasps.
Stoke Heath were represented well and it was a brilliant day had by all.
Year 6 – Bikeability – Week Commencing 2nd July 2018
This week all of our year 6 children have taken part in the Bikeability Level 1 course. The course was run by Nuneaton and Bedworth Leisure Trust who were able to supply all of the bikes and helmets we needed for the children to take part. By the end of the week all of our children were able to ride a bike and also able to ensure that their bikes met all health and safety requirements. The children then have received a certificate. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this event!
Sports Award Evening
On Wednesday 26th June we hosted our Annual Sporting Award Evening with David Moorcroft, OBE, coming to present the awards on the evening. The event was extremely well supported by all of Stoke Heaths sporting teams along with parents. A huge thank you to David for giving up his valuable time to present our awards!!
Year 5 and 6 Girls Football Tournament
On Wednesday 23rd May, Stoke Heath competed in a Year 5/6 Girls Football Tournament, organised by Coventry City Football Club. The tournament was held at Blue Coats Secondary School and consisted 7 teams. The girls put in an impressive display, winning 5 out of 6 matches, finishing 2nd. All 7 girls played incredibly well, with special mention for Klaudia who scored 11 goals. WELL DONE GIRLS!!!
Year 4 Quad Kids Competition
On Friday 18th May, 8 children from Stoke Heath competed in a Quad Kids Competition at Manor Park Primary School. The children competed in 4 events (50m Sprint, 400m Run, Standing Long Jump and Javelin). All of the children performed really well and were a credit to the school.
Boys Football League Matches –
On the 10th May Stoke Heath traveled to Aldermoor Farm for a league match. Both teams played really well and it was a closely contested match with the result a draw at 2 -2
On the 25th May Stoke Heath traveled to Whitley Abbey to play another league match. The boys put in a dominant display with goals from Keaton, Zac,Thomas and Wiktor. We started the games particularly strong scoring straight from kick off after just 10 seconds. It should be noted that all of the boys but in an extremely high performance.
Boys Football Team Cup – 3rd May 2018
This year the boys have participated in the Ben Whelan Cup. We hosted the quarter final here at Stoke Heath. The boys were leading 2-1 with goals from Wiktor and Jakub however Wyken Croft equalised with a last minute penalty. It then went to extra time where unfortunately Wyken scored the deciding goal with the overall score of 2-3 to Wyken.
Tag Rugby – April 2018
The School played Moseley school in a friendly match at home recently. Everyone performed really well and the match was enjoyed by both the children and spectators.
Tri Golf Competition – April 2018
The school has taken part in a Tri Golf Competition at the AT7 Centre. The competition consisted of 8 different activities and 7 other schools took part. Stoke Heath gave an excellent performance finishing in 2nd place overall. This is the first time we have taken part in this type of event and the children thoroughly enjoyed it.
