Our School of Sanctuary Commitment
As part of our ongoing pledge to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children and families, we are taking the following actions:
Healing Classroom Training: Key members of staff have completed Healing Classroom training, strengthening our ability to provide nurturing, trauma‑informed support.
Resources for Newly Arrived Children: We are developing a comprehensive set of resources to help newly arrived pupils settle quickly and feel confident in their new school community.
Young Interpreters & Buddy Scheme: We are establishing a Young Interpreters/Buddy Programme that celebrates and makes use of the wonderful multilingual skills of our EAL pupils, helping newcomers feel connected from day one.
Community & Collaboration: Our school already thrives on a strong sense of community. We are exploring new ways to extend this further by creating specific opportunities and events designed to support sanctuary seekers.
Multilingual Staff Support: Staff members who speak multiple languages will play an active role in helping families feel welcomed, informed, and supported throughout their school journey.
A Safe Space for Worship and Reflection: We are creating a dedicated, peaceful space where children of all religions and worldviews can pray, worship, or reflect safely and comfortably.
