Curriculum Intent
At Stoke Heath, we learn about the practical ‘Made World’, consisting of garments, devices, food, mechanisms, machines, furniture and environments. In our school, we interact with the Made World as active participants by using our creativity and imagination to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering our own and others’ needs, wants and values. This is achieved through a bespoke and personalised curriculum which gives our children the knowledge and skills needed. Our learners are appropriately challenged through a breadth of opportunities helping them to become procedurally fluent in this subject. We acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, computing and art. Our children are encouraged to take risks, become resourceful, innovative and enterprising. Through the evaluation of past and present Design and Technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact and essential contribution to everyday life within the Stoke Heath community and beyond.
