Lottery Community Fund Award

We are delighted to accept a grant of £13000 from The Lottery that has supported us to develop the Family Centre further. The grant has paid for a dedicated worker to co-ordinate services, increase footfall into the centre and focus on the needs of the community.

This year has seen the following growth:

Community Shop – between 30-35 parcels are provided every week. Through word-of-mouth, we have seen many new faces using this provision. We have also hosted 3 One Stop Shops with agencies from Coventry Parenting, Libraries, the Job Shop, and Family Hubs were in attendance

In addition to food, we’re also receiving donations and have been able to offer items such as pushchairs, Moses baskets, toys, school uniforms, and clothing for all ages.

Stay and Play

Our Stay and Play sessions welcome on average, 5–7 families per session, with some lovely new faces joining.

Here’s some recent feedback from parents:

Every time we walk past the centre, my child wants to come inside for Stay and Play! He loves it and talks about his friends at home.
My child used to only play with cars, but now he’s engaging with lots of toys. He even made us all a pretend cup of tea last time!
He was so shy at first and wouldn’t leave my side. Now he’s straight in and can’t wait to play with his friends.

 Counselling.

Two of our counsellors have now completed their placements and moved into paid employment—fantastic news! From September, we will welcome a new counsellor, bringing our team to three.

This year, we’ve received 20 counselling referrals from various agencies in Coventry as well as individuals who regularly use the centre.

Health visitor session

We are pleased to be able to offer our community direct support from the health visiting team within our centre. These sessions regularly welcome 7–10 parents per session.

ESOL

We had 9 learners who started the course and 6 who completed.  There was good engagement and good feedback from learners who are all hoping to attend in September.  We hope to work with these learners and offer them other opportunities in some of other centres to improve digital skills and maths skills.  We are also hoping to attract new learners in September!

Adult Education

19 learners across 2 courses, a level 1 and a level 2 in early years have completed and have 100% pass rate. A huge congratulations to them all!  They will continue next year to progress to a level 2 TA qualification.
